The National Research University

            Suranaree University of Technology has aspired to being a moderated size university that is recognized worldwide, with vigorous in basic science research. In this respect, it has founded the centers of excellence in many areas, most notable of which are those specializing in Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Agriculture and Health Science, and Engineering etc. There is, accordingly, key materialized research, such as, advanced material research, fundamental and theoretical scientific research, advanced renewable energy development and energy preservation, and health science research. Moreover, the university aims to adapt, transfer and develop technology as well as a body of knowledge, as it has declared itself as the “society companion institution.” Its substantial mission accomplishment is that, in 2006, it was rated “Outstanding” in research and excellent in teaching in the ranking for Thai university potential in teaching and research assessment by the Office of the Commission on Higher Education (OCHE).
