Missions

1. To train high-level scientific and technolog-
ical personnel to meet the national needs for
development.
2. To engage in research for the creation and
enhancement of knowledge, and to utilize the
results for national development.
3. To adapt, transfer, and advance appropriate
technology to increase Thailand’s technological
self-reliance.
4. To provide academic services to the people
and both public and private organizations.
5. To nourish the arts and culture on the nation-
al and regional levels, especially the arts and
culture of the Northeast.

In 2017,Suranaree University of Technology
was ranked in the top 10 of Thailand’s uni-
versities in the QS Asia University Ranking
2018. Also, SUTwas ranked third in Thailand
by Times Higher Education (THE) and in the
601st-800thgroup in the world. Moreover, in
physical sciences, SUT was ranked first in
Thailand and in the 401st-500thgroup in the
world. Furthermore, SUT was ranked fourth in
Thailand in the Nature Index Ranking. Nature
Index includes paper published in the fields
of Earth & Environmental Sciences, Physical
Sciences, Chemistry and Life Sciences.

These rankings highlight the rapid advancement
of SUT and also confirm SUT’s academic po-
tential and capacity that will lead it to the status
of a World Class Universityin the near future.
