Suranaree University of Technology launches high-quality potting soils "SUT SOIL" and "SUT SMART SOIL." A new innovation for sustainable agriculture.
Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) has launched new products, "SUT SOIL" and "SUT SMART SOIL," high-quality potting soils. This is another breakthrough in research and development by the School of Agricultural Technology. The concept is to support and develop innovative research to meet the needs of modern farmers. By combining biological research and advanced technology, the product produces potting soils with outstanding properties that enhance cultivation efficiency, reduce plant disease problems, and help plants thrive in all environments. This will enhance farmers' quality of life and productivity over the long term.
On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Anan Thongra-ar, President of SUT, presided over the opening ceremony. Also present were Professor Dr. Nueng Tia-amrung, Vice President for Research and Technology Development and Dean of the School of Agricultural Technology; Assistant Professor Dr. Phongchai Chittamai, Vice President for Finance, Property and Enterprise; Assistant Professor Dr. Pipat Luenglawan, University Farm Manager; and Assistant Professor Dr. Teerayut Kerdthai, Deputy University Farm Manager. Associate Professor Dr. Panlada Tittabutra, a researcher from the Center of Excellence in Agricultural Product Innovation (COE), SUT, shared in-depth product information on January 13, 2025, at the Suranaree University of Technology Farm Booth at the Suranaree University of Technology Agriculture Fair '68.
The high-quality potting soil products SUT SOIL and SUT SMART SOIL are the result of research aimed at developing soil structures suitable for growing a variety of plants. They feature porous, well-ventilated soil textures and sufficient essential minerals to promote plant growth and effectively increase yields. Quality raw materials are used in production, including topsoil, coconut husks, raw rice husk ash, sugar mill filter cake, and animal manure. The potting soil undergoes a strictly controlled cultivation process for over 45 days, resulting in high-quality, easy-to-use soil suitable for both novice and expert growers.
SUT SMART SOIL also stands out for its use of modern technology in selecting microorganisms for soil development and improvement. High-quality microorganisms developed in a standardized biotechnology laboratory are crucial for healthy plant growth and effective prevention of common diseases such as root rot, stem rot, and leaf spot. They also stimulate plant hormones for optimal plant growth, deepen and strengthen roots, accelerate budding, and reduce plant stress, making them resilient to all environmental conditions.
Associate Professor Dr. Anan Thongra-ar, President of Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), revealed, "SUT is committed to promoting agricultural innovation for sustainable development, creating positive impacts for communities and society as a whole. In this era of rapid technological change and growing agricultural demands, the high-quality potting soil products SUT SOIL and SUT SMART SOIL were developed to meet the needs of modern farmers by combining biological research and advanced technology. In the future, we plan to continuously expand our research and development into other innovative products to meet the needs of the agricultural and related industries, as well as develop them for national and international use. Furthermore, SUT is committed to working with farming communities and the private sector, supporting the application of research findings for maximum benefit, fostering strong collaborative networks, and identifying new opportunities for collaborative agricultural product development."
