SUT SDGs Activities: SUT Energy Challenge Reduce, Modify, Sustainable Energy Use
SUT organizes activities SUT SDGs: SUT Energy Challenge to reduce, adjust, change the sustainable use of energy Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) organized the activity “SUT SDGs: SUT Energy Challenge” sharing the idea of “reducing, adjusting energy consumption” to raise awareness of conservation and energy saving with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anan Thongra-a, President presided over the ceremony Ready to deliver sustainable energy-saving policies within SUT on September 27, 2022 at the Digital Technology Laboratory.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anan Thongra-a, President of SUT, revealed that “The University has announced its intention to drive the university towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SUT SDGs) 8 goals, namely SDG 3 on health and well-being, SDG 4. Quality Education SDG 6 Clean Water and Hygiene SDG 7 Accessible Clean Energy SDG 9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities SDG 12 Sustainable Production and Consumption and SDG 13 on climate change response. In response to the policy towards becoming a university of innovation and sustainability According to the SUT 2025 administration strategy, especially SDG 7 on accessible clean energy. Nowadays, it is found that the context of energy consumption within the university is continuously increasing. Therefore, it requires the participation of us, the people of SUT, to comply with the economical measures. Utilize all types of resources and energy in a cost-effective manner and get the most benefit together, sharing ideas and working together in the dimension of driving towards the Sustainable Development Goals.” Digital Technology
Asst. Prof. Dr. Pantip Piyatasananon Assistant to the Rector for Mission, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, SUT said that "SUT SDGs Day" activity under the concept of "SUT Energy Challenge" aims to create knowledge, understanding and participation of the SUT community. There are interesting activities, including the SDGs talk “SUT Energy Challenge”, exchanging ideas. In terms of research results and innovations in energy for sustainability, such as electric train systems, the use of solar cells in SUT Startup with results in energy saving, spin off start up of SUT in the field of energy, including the situation of electricity use and operation. To help reduce energy consumption in the university by Assoc. In this regard, there is also the 1st SUT Energy Challenge award ceremony, a contest to reduce electricity consumption between April and August 2022 of 19 campus buildings. The 1st place award is the Tool Building 7, which can reduce the electricity bill by 24,000 baht. The 2nd and 3rd best prizes are Bannasan Building 1-2 and Chon Song Building, respectively, and the consolation prize is Administrative Building and Academic Building 1, along with the award ceremony.
