SUT: Eco-Friendly Environments and Energy Conservation in Buildings

Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) focuses on an environmentally friendly environment and buildings that meet energy efficiency standards.

Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) has policies and projects that support energy conservation in the university's buildings, particularly in designing and renovating buildings to be energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.

Green Building Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) integrates the concept of green building design and construction into all policies related to new building construction or the renovation of existing buildings. These policies typically encompass areas such as energy efficiency, water resource management, the use of sustainable materials, waste reduction, and environmental conservation, all with the ultimate goal of minimizing long-term environmental impact.

Designing buildings and structures within the university to meet green building standards and be energy-efficient.
1. The university's building design emphasizes natural ventilation and the use of natural light in all buildings.
2. The Buildings and Grounds Division has an environmentally friendly building design, based on Thailand's Green Building Standards (Thai’s Rating of Energy and Environmental Sustainability, TREES).
3. Ten new buildings have received energy conservation design certification from the Ministry of Energy, based on established criteria: Basic Science and Agricultural Technology Laboratory Building Basic Engineering Laboratory Building Northeast Lower Region 1 Conference and Exhibition Center Building Medical and Public Health Laboratory Building Food and Health Technology Integrated Laboratory Building Center of Excellence in Medical Sciences Building Health Science and Public Health Laboratory Building Pathology and Support Services Building Sirindhorn Engineering Development Building Surawiwat School
4. Four buildings operate according to Green Office standards: The Buildings and Grounds Division building received the Excellent (Gold Medal) Green Office certification in 2015 from the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion of Thailand. Suraphat Building 1. Received Green Office certification at the Good level (Bronze Medal) in 2016 from the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion of Thailand. The Multipurpose Building 1 operates according to Green Office standards and has undergone internal audits. The Library and Educational Media Building operates according to Green Office standards and has undergone internal audits, following the evaluation criteria from the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion of Thailand. The Cooperative Education and Career Development Center Building received an Excellent (Gold) rating, thus passing the Green Office certification in 2021.
5. The university has appointed an energy management working group with the following duties: Assessing the university's energy usage situation. Defining energy conservation policies and disseminating information. Assessing energy conservation potential. Recommending energy conservation guidelines to the university. Continuously supervising and monitoring. More: Electricity Saving Measures
6. Received an energy efficiency design certification label for new buildings. From the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Conservation (DEDE), Ministry of Energy, a total of 6 awards were received, namely: Outstanding Label: 1 building Very Good Label: 1 building Good Label: 4 buildings
7. Received the Thailand Energy Awards 2017 for promoting energy conservation and renewable energy, in the category of educational institutions, higher education level. The building design within the university emphasizes the importance of natural ventilation and the use of external light in all buildings.
