SUT: assistance to low-carbon innovation

Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) and GPSC jointly launch the “Smart Energy Innovation Project” to promote low-carbon technology and sustainable clean energy. Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), in collaboration with Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited (GPSC) and PTT Group, has launched the “Smart Energy Innovation Project” to develop and utilize sustainable renewable energy. The project involves installing solar power generation systems, including both Solar Rooftop and Solar Floating systems, with a total generating capacity of at least 5.99 megawatts within the university grounds.

The project aims to promote the use of clean energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 115,000 tons over its lifespan, and decrease water evaporation from the reservoir by over 30,000 cubic meters per year. It also serves as a learning center and innovation hub for solar energy and smart energy management for university students and researchers.

Furthermore, the project develops Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to improve the efficiency of renewable energy management and provides opportunities for students to participate in innovation, such as a design competition for the BESS control room layout.

This activity reflects Suranaree University of Technology's (SUT) role in supporting and developing low-carbon innovation through clean energy research and development, the creation of real-world technology prototypes within the university, and the promotion of comprehensive learning and innovation in renewable energy
