Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) is committed to implementing projects and activities that promote health and well-being among local communities, especially disadvantaged groups, displaced persons, and refugees, enabling them to live strong and healthy lives. This reflects SUT's social responsibility in improving the quality of life for all people in the community through creating opportunities and access to quality healthcare services. This addresses diverse needs and fosters sustainable long-term well-being. In 2024, the following projects were implemented to promote community health:
The Royal Dental Unit of Suranaree University of Technology, in collaboration with Suranaree University of Technology Hospital, provides dental services at its facility to underprivileged individuals and target groups requiring specialized services.
On August 8, 2025, Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), through its School of Dentistry, in collaboration with the Oral Health Center of Suranaree University of Technology Hospital (SUT Hospital), organized the "Royal Dental Mobile Unit" activity. This project, aimed at providing dental services to underprivileged individuals and specialized target groups, was held to commemorate the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. The services provided included scaling, fillings, extractions, fluoride treatments, and fissure sealants to 150 students, staff, and members of the general public in Suranaree Subdistrict and surrounding areas, free of charge.
This is to alleviate illness, promote public knowledge of oral health care, encourage holistic health care, and to offer merit to His Majesty the King and the Royal Family.
Bottle Weaning and Oral Health Promotion Campaign for Preschool Children On Thursday, August 7, 2025, the Primary Care Unit, Social Medicine Group, Department of Pediatrics, Oral Health Center, Suranaree University of Technology Hospital, in collaboration with the Dental Department of Chai Mongkol Sub-district Health Promotion Hospital, conducted a bottle weaning and oral health promotion campaign for preschool children at the Chai Mongkol Sub-district Municipality Child Development Center for the 2025 fiscal year. The team was led by Dr. Pornpimol Rianthirasak, Pediatrician; Dentist Patchai Nueangkhot; Dentist Kanokorn Chatkuakoolwong; and Ms. Nanthaphat Khanma, Dietitian. Activities included educating parents on bottle weaning, age-appropriate nutrition, and oral health care to promote oral hygiene and prevent caries in young children. All participating children received oral health checkups and fluoride treatments.
"Community Liver Disease Clinic Project" The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Unit, Department of Internal Medicine, Suranaree University of Technology Hospital, organized the "Community Liver Disease Clinic Project, 2nd Session" at Phimai Hospital, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. On August 29, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Unit, Department of Internal Medicine, Suranaree University of Technology Hospital, led by Dr. Panotpol Temsinsuk, Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist, Dr. Boonyanulak Nanthiwattara, Pediatric Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist, along with Dr. Chanonporn Lertsutthiporn and Dr. Sahatthaya Niyamosath, Radiologists, and a team of nurses and staff, organized the "Community Liver Disease Clinic Project, 2nd Session" at Phimai Hospital, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, in the form of a mobile 'One-stop service' unit. The objective was to proactively diagnose chronic hepatitis B and C. Screening for liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, and liver elasticity tests are conducted to identify indications for initiating hepatitis B antiviral medication. Furthermore, treatment planning is collaborative with internists and radiologists at Phimai Hospital, and liver ultrasound training is provided by radiologist instructors. This ensures continuous and sustainable treatment for patients, reducing mortality rates, complications, and the need for patient referrals.
Eye Screening Service for Diabetic Patients On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the Primary Care Unit, Social Medicine Group, and the Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, and Head and Neck Surgery Departments of Suranaree University of Technology Hospital, in collaboration with Chai Mongkol Sub-district Health Promotion Hospital, organized a retinal screening project for diabetic patients in the Chai Mongkol Sub-district Municipality, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The goal was to screen for eye complications in diabetic patients and refer them for treatment at the hospital. A total of 100 people participated in the project.
Cardiac Screening Project for High-Risk Monks in Nakhon Ratchasima Province On January 5th, 12th, and 25th, 2025, Suranaree University of Technology Hospital, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Porntip Nimkhunthod, a physician specializing in internal medicine, along with a multidisciplinary team, conducted a cardiac screening project for high-risk monks in Nakhon Ratchasima province. Sixty monks participated in the project. The screening included CVD risk screening, stress assessment, and specialized cardiovascular tests such as leukopenia (muscle mass index) testing, body composition measurement, cardiac ultrasound, and carotid artery examination. The project was successfully completed. Monks with abnormal test results will be scheduled for further specialized clinic services. The screening took place at the Cardiovascular Department, 5th floor, Center of Excellence in Medical Sciences Building, Suranaree University of Technology Hospital.
Suranaree Senior Health Promotion Project: Fostering Cognitive Health and Well-being for the Elderly, Suranaree Subdistrict Municipality On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Suranaree University of Technology Hospital, Primary Care Department, Social Medicine Group, in collaboration with Dr. Norawich Sirithip, Family and Community Medicine Physician, and Mr. Thawin Homsakmongkol, Occupational Therapist, Rehabilitation Medicine Department, Suranaree University of Technology Hospital, implemented the Suranaree Senior Health Promotion Project: Fostering Cognitive Health and Well-being for the Elderly, Suranaree Subdistrict Municipality, for the fiscal year 2025. The project was held at the Suranaree Subdistrict Municipality Auditorium, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, with 60 elderly participants. The program integrated efforts to raise awareness of the importance of assessing and promoting cognitive skills, and preventing cognitive problems and memory loss in the elderly. The goal was to promote physical and mental health through physical activity and mental well-being activities, enabling the elderly to enter old age healthily, become self-reliant, avoid complications from chronic or existing illnesses, and develop health literacy and desirable health behaviors.
Suranaree University of Technology Hospital, in collaboration with Surawiwat School and the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Administrative Organization, conducted a community health screening event at Prasopsuk Community, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, as part of the "RSW Project: Taking Action with Heart, Volunteering for the Elderly." The event included health services such as blood pressure and diabetes checks, distribution of survival kits, and activities aimed at fostering positive relationships with the elderly, reducing stress, promoting mental well-being, and educating them on nutrition. The goal was to ensure that elderly residents in the community have good health and receive comprehensive healthcare. The event was filled with smiles and a spirit of community participation in contributing to the common good and promoting well-being.
