SUT: Promote sustainable commuting
Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) promotes sustainable transportation with the goals of reducing environmental impact, lowering energy consumption, and enhancing the well-being of students and staff. The university has developed various projects and measures to make on-campus transportation more convenient and safe, including the following:

The university has systematically developed pedestrian pathways, both covered and uncovered, to create convenient routes connecting key locations such as student dormitories, staff residences, academic buildings, cafeterias, and other facilities on campus. These pathways not only facilitate comfortable travel across campus, especially during unfavorable weather conditions like rain or intense sunlight, but they also promote walking as a healthy and environmentally friendly mode of transportation.

The university has launched a campaign encouraging staff and students to use bicycles and pedestrian pathways for commuting within the campus. Bicycle lanes are designated along the main roads, which also serve as recreational and exercise spaces. These bike lanes, both covered and uncovered, provide convenient spots for parking bikes near academic buildings and recreational areas. Additionally, this main road acts as a shortcut connecting dormitories and student services, allowing easy bike access to academic buildings. The university also provides shared bicycles, available for staff and students to borrow free of charge.
The 6-seater electric bus is used for coordination, inspection, and other tasks that require travel between buildings. It is convenient for transporting VIP guests between nearby buildings or locations and can also be used for scenic tours of campus buildings and exhibitions.
Suranaree University of Technology has launched an off-grid solar power station to support the use of electric vehicles on campus. The solar power station includes a high-efficiency energy storage system, ensuring that no electricity costs are incurred. This initiative aligns with the university’s green and clean campus policy and is intended to serve as a model for communities and society, promoting the use of clean energy to enhance quality of life.

The buses operate from 07:00 AM to 09:00 PM, with scheduled routes throughout the day to accommodate the transportation needs of students and staff during class and other activities. This service helps reduce the burden of commuting on campus, making it both convenient and time-saving. The "SUT Smart Transit" app is available for download on both Android and iOS.
