MSU in collaboration with PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited

    Electric bus trial to promote clean energy in the university Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) and PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (OR) signed a memorandum of understanding for the “Electric Bus Trial Project” to promote clean energy use in the university, aiming to develop a sustainable Green and Clean University.

    This collaborative project is a pilot project for a 40-seat electric bus, supported by OR, to collect usage data to compare the differences with the same-sized combustion engine buses currently in use at the university, such as the consumption rate that will be calculated as expenses based on distance and time, and to conduct a real-world trial on regular routes used to transport students and staff in Nakhon Ratchasima Province and other provinces, as well as to study the methods for renting electric vehicles, adapting vehicles powered by clean energy, and installing and providing charging stations for electric vehicles to support the university’s welfare activities in the future.

    Suranaree University of Technology is the first higher education institution to join this project, which is in line with Suranaree University of Technology's policy according to Strategy 5: Modern administration, environmental friendliness, development of an ecosystem that promotes health and quality of life, aiming for Sustainability Green and Clean University, answering both the university's own administration and infrastructure, as well as the country's clean energy needs.

    On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Anan Thongra-ar, President of SUT, and Mr. Sutheenop Thanyasiri, Manager of Government and State Enterprise Sales, PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited, jointly signed the memorandum of understanding, with Assistant Professor Dr. Ekkarong Sukjit, Assistant President for Facilities, SUT, along with executives and distinguished guests, joining the ceremony on July 12, 2024 at the Information Conference Room, Administration Building, and also participating in the trial run of electric-powered buses around the university.
