Program to Reduce the Use of Paper and Plastic on Campus





    1. SUT Say No Plastic

    Suranaree University of Technology has a policy to reduce the use of plastic in all areas, "SUT Say No Plastic," by implementing five measures in collaboration with merchants within the university.

    1. Do not dispense plastic bags with handles from convenience stores, except for hot items.
    2. Do not automatically dispense plastic spoons, forks, plastic straws, and seasonings, but let the service recipient pick them up by himself.
    3. Refrain from using foam and clear plastic boxes (only bagasse and paper-based packaging can be used).
    4. Reduce the use of tubes with plastic wraps. If necessary, use paper wraps instead.
    5. Discount on personal mugs and lunch boxes for food and beverages.




    2. Campaign to use biodegradable glass and straws

    According to the "SUT Zero Waste" action plan, the university aims to reduce the amount of waste. To respond strategically to University Development on Building a Green University and Notification of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Policy to support sustainable development following BCG principles by eliminating plastic and using biodegradable alternatives. There are 17 shops and beverage shops in the cafeteria. Nine shops can reduce the use of plastic cups and straws and substitute biodegradable glass by 50%.




    3. Paper Reduction Policy

    The university has announced a policy on saving measures, which is an essential policy for all employees and students to be aware of and adhere to their duties that must be taken seriously and continuously at all times in order to conserve natural resources and the environment and to ensure that all limited resources and energy are used economically. It consists of 7 saving measures, 1 of which is consumables saving, sending foreign mail, and copying documents. Document folder This can reduce paper consumption by 4,200,429 sheets/year and greenhouse gas emissions by 20,979 tons CO2e/year.

    E-DOCUMENT System

    2.1 Online document registration system (BOFFICE.SUT.AC.TH) : To provide correspondence to receive – send documents each department is responsible for efficiently. Fast execution Therefore, the university has developed an online document registration system to allow the transfer of documents within the university.     2.2 Electronic Conference System (SUBT E-Meeting) : It is an electronic meeting management system for speed. Reduce costs, save work time Reduce paper usage from systematic document submission. To facilitate the content of the meeting agenda for various meetings. Supporting documents for the meeting are logged into SUT E – Meeting and upon completion of the meeting can send a report. The meeting is logged in for attendees to certify and store in the system and can be accessed later.

    2.3 Electronic Repair Notification System (SUT Building and ground service) It is the service system of the facility section. It is used for various types of electrical or air-conditioning repairs.
