12th AUAP Learning and Sharing Forum hosted by Sias International University, China, 27-29 May 2010
January 5, 2010 Dear Partner Universities of the Association of Universities of Asian Pacific:
I am writing to invite you to attend the 12th AUAP Learning and Sharing Forum on the SiasInternationalUniversity campus from May 27 - 30, 2010. The topic of the forum will be international education cooperation. We at Sias are excited and proud to host this event and believe we exemplify the best of international cooperation in the field of education. If you are able to join us at Sias in May, you will be joined by many Chinese university presidents as well as a large delegation of international experts in education eager to share their expertise on improving both institutions and the higher education arena in the 21st century. This contact will provide you with opportunities to expand your partnerships and will also give you an opportunity to enjoy Chinese culture and the World Expo in Shanghai, designed to be the biggest World Expo in history.
SiasInternationalUniversity was founded in 1998 and is a new Board member of AUAP. As an example of a new East - West model of education, Sias has been embraced by thousands of students and has grown from a student body of less than 300 in 1998 to over 20,000 in 2009. As Sias has grown, it has continued to hold fast to its founding principles and has continued to learn from friends, colleagues and educational experts inside and outside of China. To enhance our goal of international cooperation, Sias has partnered from its very earliest days with FortHaysStateUniversity in the United States in order to provide students with an opportunity to earn both Chinese and American degrees. The dual degree program is the only one of its kind in all of China and emphasizes the kind of East-West philosophy that brings a whole new way of thinking to education in China.
Sias will also host the first Student Association Presidentís Conference from AUAP on campus from May 27-30. We would be pleased if you would invite your student body presidents to accompany you while you are at Sias. AUAP has a great interest in having student leaders come together to bond and to explore issues of concern to student populations throughout Asia and the Pacific.
We appreciate the support you have given to Sias in the past and look forward to hosting you at Sias in May. Please mark your calendars now and let us know if we may look forward to your participation in the 2010 AUAP Learning and Sharing Forum. As May approaches, we will send you additional information and details about both the forum and accommodations.
